About Me...

Hi, I am a "people's" photographer based in Whakatane.  My first photography moment came from the Family of Man book and there are a couple of images in that book which have never left me.  In 1987 I completed the Wellington Professional Photography course when it was the only formal photography course available and limited to 16 students.  And so began my ambition to travel the world's hot spots taking photos.  Well I did travel but not to the war zones and now years later find myself returning to the point in photography where I first started.  Capturing moments of ordinary life that can be treasured as family keepsakes.  Now with two boys of my own, aged 7 and 9 (in fact creating my own war zones to photograph) I feel I have returned full circle to where it's the "little things in life" that I want to capture with rhythm and beauty and the humour of life, like only photos can.

Weddings

... I love weddings.  The album is what I concentrate on, a personalised album that tells the story of your day.  Every album is different.  I have travelled and worked in the States, I covered some weddings while I was there and can appreciate not only the locations back here, I shot in Arizona "an absolute desert" compared to my Ohope beach backyard, but also the attitude of a kiwi bride which is so much more relaxed and casual... well, she can stroll along the beach barefoot, if that's what she wants.

It's so hard to imagine how life will change before you have them and then impossible to imagine life once they are here without them. View my own family keepsakes, it is just a small window but a very valuable one to me.

These images are now 5-6 years old and like any investment have become more precious as time goes on.

All my black & white prints are handmade prints, not a digital process but from the darkroom which require love and care to produce.

Families/Kids

...I like to shoot a series, mix up the black & white with colour and mix up the relationships to create 3 to 4 images in a frame.  I like to make it personal with your family in your environment.  There's lots to talk about, give me a ring.
